How is it where you live?

Post by Gerlid »

Hi,

Here in Sweden we are into the rain and cold season. You can see rainwear and shiny puffer jackets everywere. Love this season, shiny wet rainwear on rainy days and puffer jackets on cold days, almost heaven for us fetishists. Love to walk our dog together with my wife and neighbour wife and her dog, both girls wearing shiny nylon puffers.

How is it where you live this time of the year?

Here in Germany (at least in my area) we suffer from a) fewer rain b) fewer cold days c) dumb people.

The colder half of the year is my season as well. Shiny puffers can be seen much more often than proper raincoats, but it could be better. One of the best spots here seems to be Munich where more rich people live wearing e.g. shiny Moncler puffers (so my experience over the last 10 years, haven't been there in winter for about 3 years now).

Concerning rainwear you can see mostly women, fewer men, wearing the modern variations of PU or also PVC coated parka length jackets or even shorter hip-long jackets (combined with normal jeans). Traditional raincapes aren't existing (exc of my own ones), nylon ponchos for cycling or hiking somethins are in use (mostly for cyclists). Traditional long Rukka style raincoats are more or less non existing, only the Stutterheim Stockholm and Mosebackes in the shorter version can be spotted from time to time. The most sightings are women wearing different variations of Schmuddelwedda PU coated Parkas, followed by Rains jackets.

When you have a city stroll on a rainy day most people and esp. about 99.8 % of men are too dumb to dress properly for rain. Some only use umbrellas (having trouble when wind comes up), some don't have anything at all to protect them. Normal non-waterproofs getting soaked very soon, wet hair, it is a pity.
timeless fashion is the best fashion - classic "rubberized" raincoats are timeless

I recall seeing a social media post which said that once they had been married for 20 years German couples were allowed to exchange their wedding rings for matching Jack Wolfskin jackets.

Hello Tiefdruckgebiet.
What a shame that people don't dare to protect themselves.
Plus, it's so beautiful a person of any gender wearing a long shiny PVC raincoat!
It's rare that it happens, but when it does, I feel a certain admiration! But not everyone is like me! Too bad! I would love to live in a world of raincoats!

Hello after rereading, there is a mistake, it is not about "administration" but "admiration

In Australia, it's now mid spring. The weather is becoming much warmer so I don't get to wear my rainwear anywhere near as often.

However, we do still get occasional major 'southerly-busters' accompanying cool changes, so wet days can become VERY wet.

I do compensate for these shortcomings with wearing my shiny silver PUL sauna suit over my latex suit or other plastic wear when I go out for my daily walks.

No one pays me any attention. They just see someone getting his exercise fix :)

Here in Southend, Essex, its cloudy, drizzly and currently 7c. Southend is a great place to live and is full of shiny rainwearing peeps who stroll along the seafront in their shiny cagoules, parkas and anoraks. So me jogging along in the misty rain in my all in one shiny hooded jumpsuit does not draw attention at all. As its getting cooler today I will add my recently acquired very very shiny and gloopy, thick vinyl over the head, hooded cagoul I found on line. A company called Karambro or KB sports wear. They do loads of shiny stuff. Check it out!!! Its brilliant. I wear it with a belt, which pulls it in a bit. Nice!

Unfortunately I’m having to endure a severe dry streak where I live in the southeastern USA. The last time it rained was at the end of September when Hurricane Helene thoroughly drenched the entire region. I am going on 30ish days give or take without a single drop of rain. My rain gear is begging to be worn and lately I’ve contemplated creating a man made storm in my own backyard via the garden hose sprinkler attachment. The weather forecast for the next two weeks shows no sign of the dry streak letting up either.
