Reporter braving hurricane Florence in a yellow Tretorn like raincoat

Post by Chris1223 »

When you are a Swedish correspondent in the US, a hurricane is coming for you and your TV network asks you to report live, what do you do?
You grab your favorite yellow gear and go, of course. That’s at least what - thankfully - Malin Ottander decided to do six years ago! Good on her😊

right in the middle of a deluge de luxe

less rain, not as windy, but Malin still sporting the yellow raincoat with her hood up

... and a beauty even without raingear on

Thanks for posting! She is a gorgeous lady and looks soooo sexy in that rainmac. I’ll occasionally search for ‘hurricane reporters’ and sometimes a real gem comes up! This would be one of them!

You‘re welcome. Seems we share the same search habits. In my mind there’s one fundamental challenge:

On the one hand climate conditions in the US are perfect for amazing live reports out there in the elements, think hurricane, tornados and quite warm temperatures (making them for sure sweat in their gear 8-) ). But simply no sense at all for appropriate fashion, wearing blue flimsy rain jackets as default outfit (only rare exceptions to that rule).

On the other hand there‘s Scandinavia, the homeland of attractive state of the art rainwear, reporters loving to show off their latest weather it-piece. But only few live reports from occasional weather alerts, incl. a lot of snow rather than rain and of course no hurricanes.

From that point of view for me the best compromise are Scandinavian music festivals: The right fashion appeal, rainy throughout the weekend quite often with 100% attending in proper rainwear then. Unfortunately footage usually being shared mainly on IG than YT and since the former removed the chronological search rather inefficient to handle.
