Atomage and other publications

Post by Rainworshipper »

Hello, I've just been looking online for information on the former fetish magazine Atomage which has been mentioned on here. As a young man I thought I was the only one in the world with fetish for shiny rainwear, I wish that I had known about this magazine and other similar publications but at the time I was only a youngster. It seems that at least one of the regular writers was a woman(Helen Henley) surprisingly. Does any one on here remember this and similar magazines, I'm sure there must be a few members who subscribed to this.

Good morning. Thats going back some years! I seem to recall there was several 'top shelf' magazines that I too as a lad discovered, which confirmed, I was not the only one! Atomage, Rubberist and Dressing for pleasure come immediately to mind along with Relate and I think Search. I also seem to remember Atomage Bondage issued 5 or 6 issues. There were several from the US too, Bound to please and Centurian spring to mind. I know I sold loads off on ebay when it first started, they all sold for a very good price. I still have one or two kicking around in the loft somewhere. Very good, interesting reading in their day. Helen Henley would regularly turn up in beautiful hooded rubber macs and capes. Happy memories!!!

Weather Vain did a house magazine called Impermeable Delectable, later shortened to ID. I cannot for the life of me remember the guy's name who ran the shop at that time, but the magazine was all his own work, with Monochrome photographs and even photographed typed pages originally. I still have quite a few of these magazines, as well as another no one has mentioned and that was Pussy Cat, anyone remember that one ?
If anyone is interested in purchasing these periodicals, drop me a line and I will make a list of what I have. They are all just gathering dust nowadays, certainly, they do not get me as excited as they did sixty years ago.

As a "survivor" from those days I recall that his name was Tony Goddard. "Rainwear Review" was produced by Joe and Trudi Warne, Gayetime Mackintoshes magazine by Sheila Brumhead and her husband, whom I had the pleasure of meeting, "Proof" by Reg Gardner and a there was also a house magazine showcasing their original rubberised fabrics by MacMac. As noted by the previous poster, nowadays they don't work as efficiently as they used to when one feels one's craft ebbing.

There was also the Mackintosh Society's triennial magazine for members which, although not raunchy, had some superb photos of rubber mackintoshed clad women. Essential bedtime reading on day of arrival.

Sorting through forgotten boxes at the back of wardrobes as I'm starting to think about downsizing, and there's a box of magazines and catalogues - a few editions of Skin Two and many catalogues from the pre-internet days like Cocoon, Weather Vain, Honour etc. Are these now collectables and what would be the best way to sell them or move them on?
