'Mackenzie' S01-E08 'Without Prejudice' (UK TV drama/1980). This was Tracey Ullman's first ever appearance on TV - and she's wearing a lovely pink plastic mac! :) It looks like the type of mac you could buy in Van Allan's (late 70s/early 80s) - my girlfriend at the time (Rachael) had a few.
Timing: 34'-47" to 35'-59". Best setting available: 720 pixels.

What a lovely mac. Yes, you could buy those macs in Van Allan, C&A, Debenhams, Primark and lots of other shops during the late 1970s/early 1980s. Sadly they never returned to the high street after that. Thank you Rothbhoy.

This is a relatively short mac - but delightful - of the period Aas mset around at the time were mid calf or longer. The most common short plastic mac of the era was the so called Jelly Jacket with elasticated cuffs and waist. I so remember a visit to a Van Alans, full of lovely long macs in a wonderful variety of pastel shades. The odour was heady!

Remarkable how such a simple and inexepensive garment could enrapture so many of us back then, and still does.

So glad you mentioned the Jelly Jacket as my landlady (Di) had one in blue when I was at the University of East Anglia and living in Norwich (1983 to 1987). Thoughts of Mrs Biggs in 'Porterhouse Blue' come to mind here!

Did she wear a jelly jacket? I know in one episode she's got a red mac on.
