That might give members a chance to explore an interesting topic and an insight to others are wearing out & about or indoors. Also to discuss new brands of wellies/rubber boots.

I understand, that is probably why you proposed it.
But if you want to convince other people that it is a good idea, you might want to try making an argument as of why it would be necessary.

As a counter-argument I would say that creating more and more subforums will not increase the engagement on a forum, it will just split the current amount of engagement over more places possibly even resulting in less engagement as not everyone wants to check out several subforums.
