Wow that is surprising. I have visions of you keeping it in an airtight room and need to put on fine cotton gloves when you want to take it out. It was either extremely well made or well looked after. Would love to find an original 80’s jelly jacket for sale in good condition.

No, I just hang it in the pantry out of the sun. It is getting a little hard on some edges though, and I haven't worn it in bed for quite a while.

Through Vinted, I was able to buy a similar yellow PVC raincoat, and it's wonderful to have my childhood raincoat back with that lovely smooth material. This one is from the dutch company Anuy. I wouldn't even rule out the possibility that the coat in the photo is the same as the one I bought via Vinted. In the meantime, I have purchased a second one, although it's in somewhat worse condition, but they are still great raincoats. I am still looking for matching rainpants from the same brand in the same material.
It was also one of those yellow half-length raincoats I had when I went to school. I hated these raincoats because I didn't feel like I could move in them. I wanted a long nylon raincoat because it was lighter but I wasn't allowed to have that.
Today, fortunately, I have my own nylon raincoats.

I’m also of advanced years and agree about the reduction in old style rainwear. More often than not I see people out and about getting soaked in tee shirts and jeans because being prepared seems to be a thing of the past. Growing up we were told to dress appropriately, and if it was raining, or chance of rain, we’d get out a raincoat just as everyone else did. Unless you go for the hyper technical (expensive) rainwear today you tend to get showerproof not waterproof. Bring back the good old plastic Mac is what I say!

I agree; we just pulled on our raincoats and wellingtons for protection on the rain and wind. My grandparents always insisted on getting waterproofs and wellingtons on. Yes, I can't understand why it's not the same now - people getting soaked. I love old riding macs. Sadly no longer have one.
