Hi Steph

I like to go for a drive either towards the countryside or the coast in South Wales especially if is in prolonged rain. There is nothing worse than selecting nice wellingtons, trenchcoat and Souwester and then the rain disappearing and drying up by the time you have gone far.

I did keep a nice new bright yellow freisennerz style reversible pvc mac in the car but then if the rain is really coming down I had to find somewhere to put my wellies on. The other week i discovered a new car park near a hospital where I can change and then drive away.

I don't mind going anywhere in my black SBR rubber trenchcoat though, but I also love to wear bright Red PVC and Yellow raincoats as well and I have to summon up some nerve now and again to go out in them. Much of the time though no one really cares especially if it is really wet.

It's not unusual to see older ladies driving wearing a rain bonnet. How many people notice what drivers are wearing anyway?
As has been mentioned a number of times;rainwear is mainly noticeable to those of us with a strong interest in it.To most people it's just clothing.

Yes I drive wearing full rubber clothing which includes rainwear, will prk up and walk along high streets whilst dressed, its an amazing thrill. Just wish I could do this with someone and not alone.

I love driving on a wet day fully dressed in one of my rubberlined mackintoshes . I try to keep the hood up without restricting my vision. After a long walk , it is good to return home in my wet mac, soaking up the aroma.

do people not find it rather restricting driving wearing all that gear? personally have never even liked driving wearing a jacket, and as for wearing hoods, surely that has to be bordering on dangerous?

Personally, I don't find it restricting at all: I love wearing my rainwear whilst out and its a lot easier than trying to don everything in the car. Regarding hoods, most of my raincoat hoods are too loose, floppy and large to safely wear up, but a couple of them have such beautifully tight-fitting hoods that I can leave everything fully done up, even for a 30-40 minute drive. The only downer id the embarrassment factor when other motorists see a yellow raincoat driving a car.... lol!!

Driving with a hood up?
So long as you can see out then it should be ok.

I drive in my nylon raincoat and just recently in my nylon rain trousers to.
I have not got an SBR coat as yet but that is on my to do list.
