Parker Posey picture

Does anyone have any background or info about this picture I believe originally was in Life magazine in 1995.
I love this picture but have always been intrigued how/why a lovely woman like her came to be wearing such a fantastic mac.
Lets be honest its not fashionable to wear one especially as it is not a designer type mac. As far as I am aware it is not from a film. I've tried a few times to find out but have drawn a blank.
If anyone has some info I'd be really grateful.

Definitely makes her appear more down to earth, as most Hollywood actresses these days would be sporting a Burberry trench & a pair of Hunters, whereas she has the clear plastic raincoat & a cheap looking foldup umbrella - very thrift store chic!

Aaaaahh, one of my all time favourite pictures.
I have searched for years to find out about it but sadly no luck, Getty images site says Time Life magazine 1st Jan 1995. It appears to be in a reception area, hotel or restaurant maybe and I should think she is on her way out into the storm as the mac is dry. The best thing is she is wearing it fully fastened and being clear see-through my favourite colour!!

Totally agree with all the comments but it is still maddening not to know why she wore it. I'm totally with you Phil, it is one of my favourites but the more I look at it the more I want to know the background!

vintage was probably popular at the time, or perhaps it was to promote a movie role.
