No sightings, but a future rainwear lover in the making?

Post by Bill_P »

Yesterday was one of the worst teases weather-wise, as the forecast called for 60% chance of thunderstorms starting around 3 PM, later pushed back to 4, then 5, then 6 PM, which still would have been OK as I usually don't get home until 6 anyway. Then they continued to push it back to 8, then 9, then 10, then 11...in other words, might as well not rain at all for all the enjoyment I would get out of it...however, we still were under a severe thunderstorm watch until 7 PM, as well as a tornado watch, so all was not lost. It was warm & humid when I got home so I changed into a t-shirt & shorts to take my dog to the park, but there were some dark clouds in the distance so I threw my reversible rubberized nylon raincoat into my backpack and off I went. Got to the park & everyone was, like me, dressed for summer weather. After about 45 minutes we heard the first rumbles of thunder. Then louder thunder & the first cold raindrops started falling. I reached into my pack for my raincoat, while most of the other patrons started making their way back to their cars. Walking past me was a rather attractive woman with two young sons who appeared to be about 3 and 6 years old respectively. As soon as the rain started coming down in earnest I heard the younger boy start crying "Mommy! I don't like the rain!" Mother did her best to console the boy but there wasn't much she could do as the three of them had nothing they could use to shelter themselves from the rain. Then as the rain got even heavier he screamed "Waahhh! I need my raincoat!" All I could do was smile & think to myself "My kind of kid". I would hope he'll grow up to be "one of us".
