Thinking of Buying a New Mac-Ilse Jacobsen?

Post by WealdenMac »

I have been around the mackintosh block quite a few times and have enjoyed wearing SBR (the original South Bucks-very shiny-and Weather or Not-best all-rounder by far), single texture (cream Barlow's-marked too easily), shiny PVC (Dannimac-early 70's and very tactile if a little short), double texture (Biba-fabulous coachman style in mid green), Klepper in mid Blue, and matte PVC (Rukka). Now the kids have left home I am thinking of buying something new and perhaps a little less conspicuous. I could always go to Rainmac, which is quite close, but I have seen that the Danish designer, Ilse Jacobsen, offers a longish, black, coat for men. As she is Scandinavian I would expect anything she produces to be "fit for purpose" but has anyone here had any experience of how good or otherwise her clothing is.

I got lucky and found a beautiful blue seventies cotton backed mac in a vintage store in Melbourne today; it only cost me $75.00 so I'm pretty happy with it. I don't know who the manufacturer is yet (could not see it because the coat was hanging on a mannequin) but the quality and attention to detail such as sleeve cuffs etc. is fantastic. It's definitely not a Rukka though; could be an Australian brand called Sabena, but i'll know more later

Unfortunately, I have to wait until next week to pick it up because they could not take it out of the window display, so I've got it on layby for pick-up oner week from today.
