Charity shop finds
Found a rail of vintage rainwear in PDSA Gloucester today, several yellow/blue friesennerz jackets one in white/blue, a very shiny coated crinkly puma cagoule, kway cagoule, yellow heavy PVC fisherman jacket.
Sadly none my size but if someone is close by… its the shop in kings square to the side of the old Debenhams.

Re: Charity shop finds
It seems unusual to find several in one shop, it would be good to find one bargain that I really liked. I am often looking in charity shops hoping for a good find.

Same, always look in charity shops, it was in this one i found a like new red peter storm cagoule years ago and have had a few other finds in this one too. There was a lovely cotton traders poncho in the stormbreak pvc nylon material, but sadly a small and wouldn’t fit, so left it. I find alot of charity shops dont sell rainwear much anymore, this one seems to always have something in.

You have a nice collection yourself looking at your photos on Flickr. Very nice

I also like to visit charity shops or thrift stores. You never know what you'll find there. Sometimes you don't find anything there for a long time and sometimes you suddenly find something nice. A month ago I found a dark green Agu rain suit with the famous white rubber lining from the eighties. Only the hood was missing but for €9 still a bargain. I also like browsing on sites like Vinted, I have also bought a lot of nice stuff from there.

Sounds like you found a bargain. But the hood for me has a lot to do with a lovely mac .or rainwear. I love a raincoat with a hood.
As I just love to taste and suck in the lovely mackintosh as I try and breathe.

Re: Charity shop finds
I have to visit a town several miles away on Monday, I will have to have a browse while I am there to see if there is anything of interest. I staggers me that there are not more rainwear items to be found when you think how common they were. Although a huge amount has been thrown away, you might still expect a fair amount to turn up. Even 25 years ago good finds were few and far between.
Re: Charity shop finds
Quite sad, but nylon rainwear from the 70-80:s is very hard to find today. Been to many second hand shops, but it’s a couple of years since I found any. So I have only 3 sets, jacket and pants, from that time. The ones my wife and I had when we had our sailing boat, is long time gone and they were more like windbreakers, not so waterproof. They were made of nylon and had white stripes. When we stopped sailing, my wife thought they were old and ugly and scrapped them. I’m sorry for not be able to save them.annabell-cagoule wrote: November 26th, 2024, 8:52 pm Found a rail of vintage rainwear in PDSA Gloucester today, several yellow/blue friesennerz jackets one in white/blue, a very shiny coated crinkly puma cagoule, kway cagoule, yellow heavy PVC fisherman jacket.

You have a nice collection and thank you for sharing it on flickr. The set with blue jacket and pants with white stripes are the same style as those we had. Should love to see you wearing that set of rainwear.

Re: Charity shop finds
I agree,,,,the hood of a mac is very important to me too. I always hope that if I smell the hood of a ladies pvc rain mac, I might just be able to smell that heady mixture of hair care products and body aromas mixed together. Nothing sexier to me than a mature woman wearing a long pvc belted and hooded PVC rain mac. Mmmm. I wish there was still a way to visit a mature woman who is selling her mac in the newspaper or on line and ask her to wear her mac "to make sure it would fit my wife" !! Lol. Then sit there and get hard as the elderly woman "models" her PVC mac infront of me ! But...I can dream !Nylon macs wrote: November 27th, 2024, 10:00 pm Sounds like you found a bargain.
