Your Favourite Cagoule...? Any Story Behind It..?

Post by Cagoule »

My cagoule collection is rather large but my all time favourite remains the smock style Peter Storm cagoule in navy blue. I am lucky to have a few of these along with others in different colours. In my opinion this cagoule is an absolute classic and when I was growing up was the object of my desire. I was so thrilled when I got my first one....

At the age of 13, a note came home from school telling parents what we had to take on the forthcoming school camp in Wales. One item was: "waterproof cagoule and optional overtrousers". My Campari cagoule was getting too small for me and I was duly taken to the local sports shop. I had been in many times before but just to look and touch them. I knew exactly which one I wanted, a navy blue Peter Storm smock cagoule. Luckily my mum was relaxed about it (of course) and allowed me to choose. I also plucked up courage and asked if I could have the matching overtrousers. She said yes. Standing in the shop was fantastic. It felt amazing to be wearing the garments of my fantasies, all crinkly and swishy. I stood in front of the mirror, hood up and overtrousers on! I was severely flushed and very, very excited! Anyway I just about survived the excitement in the shop and for the first time owned my very own Peter Storm cagoule and overtrousers. Having my own swishy Peter Storm rainsuit was absolutely wonderful.

I have had a few cagoules over the years, but my favourite was a regatta navy blue cagoule that I had around 10 years ago.I preferred the zip up type of jacket. The nylon was pvc coated on the inside which was part of the attraction,as I like pvc. The cagoule was worn often.I even enjoyed wearing it in bed! In winter I would sometimes have it on instead of my pj jacket as it keep me warm as the coating would warm me up. I have no rainwear at the moment, but I have seen on the pvcrainwear site a unisex cagoule which is made from pvc (as you may suspect.) At some stage I may buy one.
