rubberised riding mackintoshes

I never actually owned one myself per se,but I bought one for a girl
friend of mine who liked to ride.I paid £15-00 for a size 18 riding mac
in a second hand clothes shop.It was off-white,full length and full skirted
and my girl friend filled it out perfectly.She could get a bit bossy in it when
she was buckled and buttoned into it with the leg-straps done up and with a
crop in her hand.
The rubbery aroma was heavenly ,especially when she had been wearing it
for a while and it had warmed through.She always wore it for riding and she
said she liked it very much.The other girls at the stables were a bit jealous
because it was such a nice mac.This was in the early 80's and these macs
were starting to go out of fashion.
I found this riding mac a real turn on when she was wearing it and it
even made it into the bedroom a few times.All in all it was a wonderful
garment and I was sad to see it (and her) go when we parted. She kept
it and I believe she still has it but she is married and lives in a different
part of the country.

yes i too adore these lovely old riding macs though only ladies/girls macs, i have just one which is a ladies small size though i can just get into it, the mac is years old and very well worn by the lady who owned it and it smells wonderful. sadly the mac has been so well worn that i cant put it on anymore for fear of it ripping apart, i just wish that i could get hold of another lovely old one.

I had a splendid Biba green double-textured mackintosh in the 1970's that was a joy to wear. It smelt rubbery and, as it was similar in fabric to a riding mackintosh, attracted fewer comments than my black PVC and SBR macs. Being longer in length and slightly absorbent, it also didn't give rise to the uncomfortable wet knees phenomenon associated with them in steady rain. However, it gradually stiffened over the years and finally came to grief one night when I reached up to get my briefcase off the luggage rack and it became ripped irrevocably under one armpit.

what a shame about that green double texture mac, i have four old ones including an old red gangsters mac. small size and i can't wear it sadly but it has a lovely rubbery smell, i love these old macs but they don't last for ever.
did you repair that green mac, what did you do with it.

@boot. She was tall 5'9" , well endowed with a mane of long blonde hair , and she looked like the actress Susannah Harker from the 80's . She also had a good sense of humour and a throaty chuckle that I found quite a turn-on . Sad to see her go , and the Riding Mac too !
