I'm about to sell the majority of my plastic raincoat collection which in the case of some plastic raincoats go back to the late 1970's and early 1980's.
I am hoping to sell about 30-40 of them in all. Some were stored in a wardrobe so are all fine and a few others were stored away and have gathered some dust. Does anybody have a good method of cleaning a plastic raincoat? They are mainly of the see through plastic variety. I was thinking about putting a bunch of them in the washing machine just on rinse mode but then thought this could damage them so maybe its best to just let them soak in the bath in some lukewarm water with a little bit of liquid soap? No cleaning products? Any help is greatly appreciated. A friend is coming to model them for me over at our local park on monday before I put them on eBay sometime soon.
thanks in advance for any helpful advice!
Neil

Re: Cleaning Plastic Raincoats
I'd go for cleaning in the bath rather than machine washing
BTW are you selling tickets to your photo shoot ?? it might raise more than the sale
Good luck

Re: Cleaning Plastic Raincoats
Best way is to wear it in the shower I say lol , but maybe not practical for 30 - 40 coats sorry not much help but I would say steer clear of cleaning products .
Re: Cleaning Plastic Raincoats
if it is only a little dust I wouldnt even worry too much. It should just shake off anyway. Definetly wouldnt risk using cleaning products. As has been suggested just wearing them in the shower could be the simplest solution

Re: Cleaning Plastic Raincoats
Many thanks for all the help/comments guys.
I'll make a start on them tomorrow and leave them to hang to dry ready for monday.
Ray - yeah selling tickets might be a good idea haha. I'll be posting a few pics on eBay obviously for the sales but will add a link here in the "For Sale" section so you can see some of the pics.
all the best,
Neil
