Hi ! Yes, you should definately wear your new shiny macs out in public. The more often you wear them, the more confident you will become. I wear my very shiny, long black pvc raincoats around Kingston all the time, unless it's hot. People in your local area gradually get used to you wearing your shiny mac all the time and dont bother you. In fact, you will find that you will get lots of very nice compliments from people. They frequently ask where they can buy a shiny coat from. I've even made a few new friends because of, standing out from the crowd. Nothing wrong with that. More often, it seems to be girls that like to come and chat about yor interesting coat. They seem genuinely fascinated that you're wearing such a lovely shiny plastic raincoat. They usually describe them as ; 'cool, groovy or retro', which is all the rage these days.
So, be brave, walk out in your favourite shiny mac, hold your head up high and show the world you dont care and that you love your shiny mackintosh. Hope you enjoy yourself and I look forward to hearing about your experiences. Happy macking !

Hi Macklovin,

I think i saw you in Kingston last Autumn going into Sainsbury's in Eden Walk. It was just before six and i needed to get a bottle before they closed, by the time i'd bought it, you had disappeared. Would love to have chatted. Are you 6' plus as the person i saw was, wearing a very long glossy black pvc mac

I wear my raincoats in public all the time now, especially when it's wet. Unfortunately, some of my rainwear is a bit on the girly side, so i don't feel confident about wearing it: but some of my other macs receive regular airings, especially my brand new yellow Topshop mac/jacket which i wear even if its not wet. I barely receive any "funny" looks, I guess, because it doesn't look obviously fetish-y. I think people like that nautical look? I also love wearing my shiny yellow, green or blue Rukkas as well; I've even worn them to, and inside my local supermarket!

It's just a matter of confidence really: go for it & wear what you like

Wear my Blue PVC Mac when ever the opportunity arises - much to my wifes annoyanceas she does not like it.

Perfect for dog walking in the weather we are curently enjoying
Broad minded enough to acknowledge we all enjoy different things:)

I was initially abit apprehensive wearing pvc rainwear in public, so I'd start by driving home from work in the early hours whilst wearing one of my partners black plastic macs we kept in the boot of the car. People couldn't really see much even if stood next to them at traffic lights- from there my confidence has grown and my partner and I get a real buzz parking up in laybys late at night wearing nothing but pvc macs from time to time. But I still wouldn't wear it in a busy, populated place though- other than my North Face puffy, they're more exceptable n no one ever batters an eyelid.
