Need Advise About Community/Group...

Post by chucky3fm »

Hi People..

For many years am owner of Yahoo Group Let-it-Rain...
With many Members on it, I was very proud on it..
For months now, doing nothing more because am getting sick of
all the F*ckin' Spammers on it..

Normaly on frontpage where messages posted from the members.. but it got
overwelmed by Spam advertising, so I blocked that option!

Everytime trying to block sender.. but I get no result..
It seems to be these Profile/accounts noteven exists when checking..

A few weeks ago I started delete all Spam Messages manualy.. (over 40.000)

Deleting messages by selecting... max 30 each time.. (Total more than 40.000 deleted)

There is no option to delete all in 1 time!

Now am not motivated anymore..
Even get stuck while reading Yahoo info/settings because its english..

Am a 200% ADHD Freak with absolute no patient,

Can somebody give me some advise.. or trying to help..?

I Can give Moderator Rights on group ..

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/let-it-rain/

Or maybe tell me another great community/group hosting to share photosets and video's..

Peace, Love, Beats and Rain..

First: Set the group on moderate. Every message musst be approved before it is sent to all members. This setting may slow down your group a little, but it is a good way to get spammers to a few messages per month.

Secound: Get co-moderators that will help approve messages in a timely manner.

Helped in two groups i'm on

Or you could set up a group/forum like this one ... you don't need to have as many sub-forums as Paul, if you don't want or need them.

I help Paul moderate this forum, and I absolutely assure you that 95% of spam is discovered and deleted within hours between the two of us: so if you set up something similar, you might find it easier to run if you've got someone in a different time zone handling spam, so it gets weeded out ASAP.

Nothing discourages these creepy shits more than seeing an active forum without any spam; it's a sure sign that they are vigilant about keeping it OUT.

One of the reasons I abandoned Yahoo was because it was impossible to control.
Now I've got my own site, I can ban by email address (including just the extension, so for example .ru is banned).
Or I can ban IP addresses - this stops people from just making another email address and trying it on again.
Now I only get about one spammer a month, and they're instantly deleted.
