Hi,
I am a fan of glossy glass clear and glossy coloured transparent PVC rainwear made from a slightly thicker PVC material than the usual 180-200 micron PVC. The sort of PVC I like is a thicker (approx 400 micron) material that is very glossy, tough, durable and strong, yet it still retains its sensual characteristics (a softness and cool smoothness when worn against the skin, and a nice 'crackling' and 'popping' sort of noise when handled), owing to its high plasticiser content. The thicker and tougher glass clear or glossy transparent PVC, which 'sticks' together when folded-up and makes a wonderfully loud 'pop' and 'crackle' when it is unfolded (I love noisy PVC rainwear!) is typically used to make inflatable furniture:

I am looking for PVC rainwear made from this 400 micron PVC material. It seems to be impossible to find any glossy transparent PVC rainwear made from a PVC material that is greater than 200 microns thick. I have bought 180 micron transparent and glass clear PVC rainwear in the past, but I was very disappointed with the quality of the material- the thin PVC is like wearing a plastic shopping bag! Also, it lacks the loud 'crackle' and 'pop' you get with a thicker PVC material.
Would anyone know where I can find what I am looking for?
Regards,
Tom

I too prefer the thicker material. I've been able to obtain some real thick NBC suits (or haz mat) suits that make wonderful wearables, especially on a cold winter evening. In addition to plastic haz mat suits I've also had some frosty clear kart racing suits that I obtained from suppliers in Pakistan that are quite thick as well. And yes the colder it gets the more they crackle! Give me your email and I will attach a pic of one variety that was made up by a local company that makes these, and perhaps I can get an extra.

The thicker, wonderfully noisy, glossy glass clear pvc raincoats featured in the following youtube videos are what I am looking for; frosted or semi transparent pvc is just too 'quiet' and lacks the sensual qualities of a thicker glossy glass clear/glass clear red/glass clear blue pvc.

So, I am not the only one who has a preference for a thicker glass clear PVC material that makes a loud 'crackle' and 'pop' when it is unfolded or worn! Whilst I prefer a thicker material, it must have a high plasticiser content, otherwise it lacks softness and smoothness. Also, PVC containing a high percentage of plasticiser remains soft at cold temperatures, whereas a lower PVC content tends to result in brittleness at low temperatures. I like the glass clear PVC material that has a habit of 'sticking' together when it is folded up; frosted or semi-transparent PVC seems to lack this effect.kulshan wrote:I too prefer the thicker material. I'm also looking for some heavier guage vinyl rainwear that creaks and rustles when worn. Sadly I'd guess the heavyist my partner and I own would be of 250 mic, I've not come across anything thicker though. I'd love a glass clear or smoke coloured item to wear as a 'top layer' with other softer stickier vinyl layers underneath. I enjoy trying to put layers on and take them off all at once. The thin layers easily stick against skin as they warm and also 'grab' on to the heavier layer(s) on top. The real fun I find is trying to remove that lot without any help afterwards and can be a realy tough struggle with multiple layers- loads of creaking, squeaks and pops and it's totaly 'knackeringly' good fun too!

I've actually got one very thick & heavy crystal glass clear PVC raincoat in my collection: found it on e-bay a couple of years ago; I absolutely love wearing it!! It also 'sticks' to itself like all buggery when unfolding it for use so I usually just keep it hanging up in my wardrobe. Needless to say, it gets a lot of wear, especially around this time of year. I also receive a lot of compliments on it too: from both guys & girls.
