Flickr Alternatives

Post by pvc_pete »

Hi,

I thought it might happen at some point, but my Flickr account has been closed without warning. I know this has happened to a lot of you before, but I thought I had done everything right. All my own photos, anything mildly sexual set to restricted and friends only etc etc but of course you don't get any warning. Anyway I have all my photos but it is just the hassle of uploading everything again and adding all the friends.

I have created a new account on flickr but just wondered if anyone else could recommend a slighty less draconian free picture hosting site. Looking at the reports on the web, it seems like the Flickr admin people seem to think they are gods who can do anything they like (even to people who have paid for a subscription, not me at least)

Any recommendations greatfully received.

I love photobucket - I actually use it more than I do flickr. Give it a try and tell us where we can see you on photobucket.

I'm very sorry to hear that :-(

I know how you feel; it is just so annoying!!

I think the reason I've survived as long as I have is because I moderate all my content so the flickr censors are happy. They mainly seem to object to exposed butt or anything like that. Anything else is OK.

I also only take original photos of a clearly consenting subject so that's important too.

How does this censorship work?3 of my contacts have been deleted in the last 2 weeks. There is definitely no nakedness involved;in fact the exact opposite. As an example one administered a group entitled"Women in cold winter weather, hood up"All his pictures have gone.Maybe I should do prints in future.

No surprise that Flickr censorship seems like that of Yahoo - sudden, without warning, and with some element of randomness.

Pricks.
