Well I know it's a little early but I bought my wife a new Hamilton Classics "Sabrina" in Cerise for Valentine's Day

It was the color that did it for me this time but I would always buy either a rubber-lined mackintosh in satin or PVC.

I'll probably get yelled at for buying another mackintosh. But it is in red (sort of) and OK for February 14th.

OK Stephie, I read your posts.

The garment has to be long as my wife doesn't like her knees getting wet.

My love is for ultra-long see-thru plastic macs - floor-length, ideally - and I have steadily built up a collection with permutations in plastic material, colour, attached/detachable hoods, soft plastic buttons/poppers, pocket styles, etc. I enjoy wearing them in public too, when the rainfall is so intense that almost anything seems justified. It is a particular delight to baptise a plastic mac for the first time and enjoy the full sensual delights - the accumulation of raindrops that begin to drip from the rim of the hood, for example; the noisy swish as you walk down the street; awareness of the PVC aroma; seeing your reflection in a shop window, your mac now oh-so-shiny; and all the rest. I have just returned from three days of almost Old Testament rainfall in the French Riviera, pure bliss in a long blue plastic mac with an attachable hood...And I am always in the market for yet more ultra-long plastic macs.

I too love the idea of parading a thick, robust plastic raincoat or rain suit in the rain. I do wish there were more of the semi transparent colored and transparent ones like we used to have. If I see a transparent rain jacket or raincoat that appears to be heavy duty and possibly noisy I'll step up and buy it!

My raincoat fetish definitely stems from childhood memories. Thanks to the raincoat people that made the long semi transparent gray smooth plastic coats. I have a nice one now thanks to an online vendor.

I'm always buying pvc raincoats. The material is shiny and feels good in bed. I have 67 raincoats and by the end of next week should have 77.

Hang onto your hat! I'm just now bringing on some thick clear plastic rain suits and coats and maybe an apron or two. Look at the for sale column.
