Cagoules

Post by Cagoule »

Not too much cagoule chat on here for a while...? Had a fantastic sighting the other day at Embankment Tube Station in London. I saw a very pretty girl (about 25 ish) wearing a classic multi-coloured Peter Storm zip up cagoule - red at the top, small white stripe in the middle and navy at the bottom. How wonderful was that..? I love those moments, rare though they are to see classic Peter Storm being worn. Lots of other cagoules around though. Plenty of Regatta, Kag-In-Bag, Mac-In-Sac amongst others. Happy days. Bring on Autumn/winter... http://cagoulefetish.blogspot.com/

Hi Cagoule... Had a look at your blog, and I have a confusion in terms- Here in the US, we would call a butt length pull over raincoat a smock. When I was into hiking in the 70's, outfitters sold a pull over raincoat that came down to your knees (or just below) they called a cagoule... What do you call a pull over raincoat that comes down to your knees?

Here is what I mean: http://www.campmor.com/cascade-ii-cagou ... _sku=77708

I also want to correct my post above that in the US, a pullover raincoat that goes just below the waist is called an Anorak... A smock is a knee length pull over raincoat that basically looks like a dress- it is not close to the legs like a cagoule.

I have a Line 7 smock I use for sailing.

Fantastic pictures in your Blog. You just can't beat the gold old classic Peter Storm zip-up Cagoule. If I had the money I'd commission them to make them again

Cagoule - you mean this one!!

Strange timing - got one of these bought in 1989 and don't ask me why but I cut off the white stripe :? - dug it out for the first time in years yesterday and wore it gardening ;)

Terminology is difficult-I think of a cagoule as anything without a front opening that you pull on over your head, regardless of length.

Peterstrom - yes that is the exact cagoule. How and why did you remove the white stripe?

I have no idea - 20 years ago it must have seemed like a good idea  Need to seam tape the join to make it waterproof - been stored for the past 19 years!!!
