Transparent clear plastic rainmacks

Post by wellyboy »

How many members have recently seen people wearing transparent rainmacks?
And if so how many have seen men wearing them?
There was a photo posted on this site last year of an actress wearing a see thru 3/4length plastic mack in what seemed to be the foyer of an hotel. Can anyone post me a link to that photo or other photos of specifically men and women wearing plastic macks.

its extremely rare to see anybody in a transparent plastic mac, would love to see men wearing transparent ones, in fact I do have one but I have never had the courage to wear it out. Will settle for the blue jeantex one which is less conspicuous.

The most recent I have seen was worn by Dudley Moore, but on TV and the coat wasn't transparent. But he was famous for his pvc coats, and he is pressing a transparent one here (never noticed that it was transparent until now):

I actually wear my glass clear raincoats (one of them is from PVC-U-LIKE) all the time - even to the supermarket - when it's wet; and I almost never have problems with "funny looks" ... I've got no idea why, but most people just take it for granted, maybe because it's not a loud, girly number like red, yellow or (God forbid), pink.

I've also received a number of very positive comments regarding my rainwear, and I have even had people asking where can I buy them?

About 3 months ago I discovered,in a chain store called Primark,PVC rainjackets on sale in the womens section. They were transparent and came in blue, pink and green. For a few weeks I used to go in and just touch them, enjoying the smooth feel of them. After a while I found the courage to buy one. I found the largest size I could in blue, put it in the basket, and went to pay.I was a little worried as i waited to pay, wondering what the cashier would think of a man buying a womans plastic mac. She just took it off me, put it in a bag and took my money. When I got home I tried it on. Of course it was small, but I could get my arms in the sleeves and fasten up the top and bottom buttons. The feel of pvc/plastic against my bare skin was wonderful. I even slept in it! I would love to wear a transparent raincoat that fits properly, and may do eventually.I have the courage now to buy and wear pvc/plastic,but only wear in private, I'n not sure I could "go public" for a while.

Transparent plastic coats were typically seen during sports events, especially golf, worn by both, men and women alike. Fashion has changed and today, plastic coats are out of date, but that's all. Of course, there are gender-specific cuts, but these are mostly marginal and a quick looks into the mirror should tell you, what suits you. Basically, if you see yourself wearing a rain coat, it should be fine, but if you see yourself and a rain coat, it doesn't match.

In other words: No need to worry, as long as you feel comfortable in your coat.

The last few years have seen an explosion of plastic rain jackets particularly in the macho world of ATV's, paintball, and motocross. This is a real encourgement. Up till then, you saw the "cheerleader" style of rain jacket at sporting events but no much anywhere else. Stateside you will also see a fair number of decent frosty clear poncho's, some sporting the logo of a college or football team. Never had any negative reaction, especially when it's pouring down rain at a tailgate and everyone else is hunkered up.

I have a number of clear transparent plastic jackets by the like of Reebok, Gap, No Fear etc that I often wear out and about in public when it's wet - in fact only last week when I was on holiday in Sydney, Australia and we had a shower, I wore the clear plastic No Fear rainjacket. Sure you get a few looks, but that's about it. Never worries or bothers me. I have numerous coloured see thru plastic raincoats too but am yet to wear any of those in public with the exception of a see thru yellow Tommy Hilfiger rainjacket a few years back.

Jeantex has very nice raincoat for men which can be easily worn outside
