Hi all.
Just thought of this in my head.
If you could go back in time.
What or which Vintage rainwear would you buy.
Mine would be Nylon cagoules. Peter Storms, Regatta etc. Love the Royal blue cagoules that came out in the 70s/80s with the contrasting white stripes on the sleeves.
If you could go back in time. What rainwear would you get

Hmmm, interesting question...
How I wish I'd bought up every jelly jacket that I had the opportunity to buy in the late eighties and very early nineties, along with some of the lovely clear PVC numbers disposal stores used to sell.
Most of all, i wish I could travel further back in time and buy every Rukka raincoat I possibly could.... I just adore them!!

if i could time travel wow it would be fantastic. for me it would have to be those lovely old rubber lined cotton mackintoshes from the 50s/60s, especially a girls old rubber lined school mackintosh with a hood in blue or green. something i have been searching years for. also the goregous shiny cotton backed pvc macs from the 60s/70s, i have a few of them but always want more and the lovely shiny rukka macs that i adore. ah well you can but dream hey.

I would have loved to have been around in the 1950 /60s when the rubberlined mackintoshes were readily available at reasonable prices in the high street stores form such suppliers as Alligator, Quelrayn ,Dannimac etc. I often spoke to my mother about this and she was saddened by the demise of these mackintoshes which fully protected the wearer from the elements.
I have three 10 years old macs ( 2 rubberlined satin & 1SBR ).They are well used but I hope will last me a few more years.
I once saw in an old catalogue a long satin ,rubberlined mac with a mandarin collar, buttoned wrist bands and generous hood. The material was ribbed and I woudl just love to have something like this, but even if I found one,I don't think I could afford it.!!

I would go back to the year 1977 and buy a lot of the plastic rain capes in different colours at the Hema store in The Netherlands these capes were priced at 8 Guilders back then which is about 3,60 EURO, my mother bought the yellow one but sadly after a year it was damaged and she put it out with the trash.
It is very difficult to find these capes and it took me 30 years to get one, in 2007 I met a guy on the internet who had a Hema rain cape in the colour green only the peak on the hood was missing so I asked him what he wanted for the cape and his reply was a pink plastic raincoat so I said okay we met and exchanged the rainwear.
You can imagine that I was very thrilled to get a Hema rain cape after such a long time.

Without doubt. The lovely yellow reversibles from the 70s and 80s or Friessenerz as they are still called in Germany.
I remember my mother buying me and my two sisters those lovely pvc yellow raincoats Penneys (ireland) Primark (UK).
I always wore mine yellow side out with the navy canvas side on the inner.
Oh they were so nice and comfy and soft to wear. I loved them.
Please bring them back!!
Where can I get one nowadays in Ireland?

would have to be the sixties with the original pakamacs in the slightly see thru grey and those lovely rubbery buttons, then all I would need would be to find a willing guy to model it for me
